Kenny Brown Spec JRZ coil-over shocks and struts for 2005-2013 Mustang and Shelby GT500 -- Awesome shocks, I have them on my car and I love them!
In 2011 Paul Brown worked closely with JRZ to develop a unique race shock package for the BOSS 302S Mustang.
JRZ’s are a top shelf and highly regarded damper at the highest levels of professional racing, and a key to Paul’s dominant performance in the 2011 championship.
The only set-back is the JRZ Race Line shocks used by Paul in the Pirelli World Challenge series are around $9,000 for the package, a little salty for our track day and club racing customers, but worth every penny if you want to win. Incidentally the absolute top of the range 3-way adjustable pro race JRZ’s are priced around $14,000.
After a lot of urging from both Paul and me, JRZ is now producing custom spec Kenny Brown club and race series shocks based on the development done with JRZ on the #50 championship-winning Boss 302S Mustang.
The JRZ range is a premium spring and damper package that is a full coil-over front and rear. The shocks JRZ builds for Kenny Brown Performance are unique, to my spec and based on Paul’s championship shock package with 1 degree of negative camber built right into the strut.
The Kenny Brown JRZ range includes:
RS1 – Single-adjustable, a great entry level KB/JRZ shock and standard equipment on the Kenny Brown GT4-RS Mustang. This complete system is perfect for track days, club racing or street driving.
RS – Double-adjustable, a nice step up from the RS1 for club racers who have experience tuning shocks for the track.
RS Pro – A pro level double-adjustable with remote canister either mounted on the shock or as a separate canister.
Race Line – The same pro series double adjustable JRZ’s Paul Brown used to totally dominate the 2011 Pirelli World Challenge GTS category and win the 2011 world championship, while also tying Parnelli Jones single season win record in a Boss 302 Mustang at Five.
I have noted the single adjustable RS1 JRZ shocks as “Kenny’s Choice” and they have proven to provide great control and very acceptable ride-quality that I would easily use for a performance street application, and most open-track or club racing application.
The on-track performance is outstanding, offering a lot of control and making the car faster in all conditions. The single-adjustable feature is a great tuning tool without getting too complicated, and is considered the next step above our standard "club sport" adjustable shock and spring package. In addition, the unique Kenny Brown specified valving provides for spring rates from 475 pounds all the way up to 850 pounds or more.
The RS1 is a premium entry level JRZ shock and spring package that comes complete with shocks and struts, main springs, helper springs, spacers, thrust washer and adjustable camber plates for $4,145, and well worth every penny if you want outstanding championship performance.
